Caravan Theatre welcomes award-winning Winnipeg playwright, Kevin Longfield, to Nova Scotia for a reading of excerpts of his play We Are Family.

June 20th, 7pm in Wolfville. Free admission. 30 mins. of play-reading followed by a Q&A.

Winnipeg-born playwright and actor Kevin Longfield earned a theatre degree from the University of Winnipeg. He has fond memories of his many visits to Nova Scotia and is looking forward to returning for this reading.

His play, Going Down the River, appeared in the anthology Canadian Mosaic: 6 plays and received the Dorothy White Award from the Ottawa Little Theatre's national one-act play competition.

During the pandemic he completed four full-length plays: We Are Family, was a quarter-finalist in the Screencraft Cinematic Stage Play contest, and will have a staged reading at the Four Play festival June 7. An excerpt of Prospects and Pigeon Pie had a staged reading at the Little Lion Theatre in the UK. Shafted was a semi-finalist in the Risk Theatre Modern Canadoian Tragedy competition. Maggie’s Will grew out of his one-act Fringe play, Blizzard, produced at the Winnipeg Fringe.

Besides playwriting, Kevin has served on the board of two PACT companies and produced independent theatre for Theatre Anywhere. He has also written about theatre, as the Winnipeg correspondent for Theatrum Magazine and the Author of From Fire to Flood, a history of Manitoba theatre.
